We are pleased to share the Mass General Brigham, Salem Hospital’s Behavioral Health Family Resource Center presentation on Kids and the Impact of Toxic Stress.

“KIDS and the Impact of Toxic Stress: How the pandemic, systemic racism, societal inequalities, technology, and other stressors of our current world can impact our children in toxic and traumatic ways and how we can help!”

Presentation overview:

Review the impact stress can have on kids, especially when it becomes toxic and/or traumatic in nature.
Identify the primary stress factors that can lead to increases in anxiety and depression, especially in adolescence, and why it has impacted this generation of children more than others.
Review and learn about the response of the young brain to toxic stress and the associated effect on social-emotional functioning and learning.
Discuss the importance of adults in their lives, and how they can use positive, supportive relationships with kids to help them regulate their emotions, and have a positive impact on their mental health.
