Good Evening Caregivers & Students:
It was a very busy and exciting week at Essex Tech. Grade 9 CTE selection is now complete, and students spent their first days in their new CTE programs. We started our official Fall II athletic season. Cheerleaders, football players, and volleyball players were happy to get back to practice this week. We are very excited to see the students and coaches doing what they love after such a long wait to begin their seasons. We also celebrated FFA week with fun activities for students, appreciation treats for teachers, and Flannel Friday.
Here again, is the link to the ENSATS COVID Dashboard. This dashboard is updated at the close of every week. We will provide the link in our weekly emails, but you can also find it on the Families page of our website in the COVID-19 section.

Calendar Update
Due to the MCAS testing dates, we have updated the school calendar. The newest version is on the website at https://essexnorthshore.org/
School Reopening Plan
Thanks to all those who participated in our School Reopening Survey! We recognize the importance of bringing students back to school and have been following Governor Baker’s and Commissioner Riley’s updates for guidance that will help us move forward with this process! We will present our Draft Spring Reopening Plan at a special School Committee meeting on March 3, 2021, after the Finance Committee meeting. The plan proposes that CTE students will come back to school full time while academic students will continue to remain in a hybrid model during this next phase of our reopening.
Transportation Survey
All Caregivers should have received an email on Thursday, February 25th with a Spring 2021 Transportation Survey. This survey will help us gather information related to bus transportation needs as we plan for the Spring Reopening, which will allow us to have students on campus for all of their CTE days during that particular cycle. So far, over 800 Caregivers have completed the survey! Thank you so much for your quick response. It really helps us with planning with the big picture in mind: our students. If you haven’t completed the survey yet, it’s not too late. Please click here to complete it so that we can accommodate your transportation needs: Spring 2021 Transportation Survey
“Managing Emotional Health During Uncertain Times” An Essex Tech Family Event for Caregivers and Their Students with Lynn Lyons, LICSW ~ March 15th at 6:00 pm
Lynn Lyons is a psychotherapist and nationally-recognized consultant and speaker from Concord, New Hampshire, who works with children and families to manage anxiety disorders. Lynn met with our students virtually this week to share strategies to help them manage the uncertainty of our current environment. She focused on how to increase flexibility, tolerate uncertainty, communicates effectively, and replace catastrophic thinking with problem-solving.
We are pleased to bring Lynn’s messages to our Caretakers and their students during a virtual family presentation on Monday, March 15th at 6:00 pm. To join this event, please visit: essexnorthshore.org/
Virtual FAFSA Form Completion Night: Registration Deadline Extended to March 1st
The North Shore Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) has partnered with Essex Tech to offer families of senior students FREE one-to-one advising for completing their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) applications. A virtual FAFSA Completion Night will be hosted by EOC and Essex Tech on Wednesday, March 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. If a senior student and their Caregiver are interested in an individual session with an EOC advisor, please complete this brief registration form by Monday, March 1, 2021: FAFSA Form Completion Registration Form For more information, click here EOC FAFSA completion flyer or contact the EOC directly at eoc@northshore.edu or call (781) 477-2114.
Winter Integration Academy
We are excited to announce that we still have openings for a few additional students to apply to the Winter Integration Academy that will run the second and third weeks of March and include two days of after-school work, some remote and some in person, and a commitment of attending two Saturday morning sessions from 8:30 to 11:30 am on March 13th and March 20th. Students will work in teams and compete in some fun and creative integration challenge that interconnects CTE and Academics and is being developed by teachers who will serve as project advisors to teams. We will need at least five students for each grade-level team, so space will be limited but student enthusiasm has been boundless for those who participated in the Summer Integration Academy and the Fall Integration Academy. Bus transportation will be provided after school and on Saturdays for any students needing a ride.
To be considered for the Winter Integration Academy, please complete the Google Form at the following link: Winter Integration Academy Application. Any Caregiver or student who has further questions about the Winter Integration Academy, please contact Mr. Crofts at pcrofts@essextech.net.
