Important Information for Seniors

Dear Class of 2020 Students and Families,

Our Senior Class officers, Advisors and Administrators have been hard at work planning events for the seniors.  While this is not the way we had hoped the Senior Week would go, we still want to celebrate the Class of 2020 and all of their accomplishments.  I wanted to provide you with some important information about the events that are coming up over the next two weeks.

Pick up and drop off of belongings

On Wednesday, June 3rd, and Thursday, June 4th, we are scheduling curbside pick up for seniors of any belongings you have left in the building.  To continue to minimize the number of people in the building, we are asking you to complete this Google Form listing all the belongings you need to pick up and where they are located. Please make every effort to provide specific details as to where your belongings are located. We will then collect your belongings and meet you for a contactless curbside pickup in designated locations based on your CTE Program.

Please understand that at this time we cannot allow all seniors to be on campus at once, so we have created a schedule for students to arrive to pick up their items according to their CTE area. Here is the schedule for the pick up as according to which day each CTE Program has been assigned for students to come to their designated area.  Pick up will run from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  When seniors are on campus to pick up their belongings, we will also have a drop-off location for any senior who needs to return textbooks, library books, sports uniforms, or iPads/computers/chargers.  This drop-off location will be in front of the school.  Lastly, we will also have a location in front of the school for students to pick up their school records.

Please note: students must sign up using the google form above and arrive on the date scheduled for their CTE area.  CTE teachers will not be present to give belongings on multiple days.  If a student is not able to make the date scheduled, please contact your CTE director (CTE East: Mr. Ducharme [email protected] or CTE West: Ms. Sawyer [email protected]) to schedule another pick-up date, time, and designated location.

Virtual Spirit Week

Please join the senior class in Virtual Spirit Week.  Wear an outfit that matches each day and post your photo to Padlet. The link to Padlet will be shared via email each day.  Everyone will get a chance to vote on their favorite picture of the day through Padlet and the best picture wins some school gear that will be mailed to you.

Thursday, June 4th: Future Plans Day

Drop off Caps and Gowns

Our amazing staff will be out and about to deliver caps and gowns to seniors on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Senior Trivia Night

Our original Senior Trivia Night was planned for March but had to be postponed.  We will have a Virtual Senior Trivia Night on Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00 pm.  Seniors please check your email soon for team sign-ups and a Zoom link.  There is a max of ten people per team and each team must include one staff member.  If you don’t have a team, you can still sign up and we will find you a team.  We do this every year, where students end up on mixed teams.

Awards Night

A virtual Awards Night ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 4th at 7:00 pm.  This will not be a live event, but you and your family can attend it remotely live.  The award announcements will be pre-recorded and will be aired at 7:00 pm.  Please check for an email link to the show.

Senior Parade

On Friday, June 5th we will have a senior parade during which seniors can drive through campus while faculty and staff are on hand to wave and wish them well.  All seniors who wish to participate should arrive at the Alumni Gym parking lot at 10:30 am, Officer Chase and other members of the Danvers Police will be available to help organize drivers into lines.  The parade will begin at 11:00 am.  Families are invited to attend but must drive with their senior; we ask that there is only one car per graduate.  Due to COVID-19 related restrictions, students and families must remain in their cars while on campus.  We will provide more information about this next week.

Technology Information

Please read the following letter from the Technology Department regarding students’ email accounts and iPads.

Final Transcripts & Verification of Graduation

The Guidance Department will forward final transcripts to graduates’ post-secondary institutions following completion of this school year and before July 1. Final transcripts will also serve as verification of graduation for seniors who need this for employment, military enlistment, or for any other needs pending distribution of diplomas. Students do not need to make additional requests for these to be forwarded to their identified post-secondary contacts. To ensure that final transcripts are forwarded properly and timely, seniors must complete the Class of 2020 After High School Plans to share their plans for after high school. In addition, graduates should anticipate receiving an unofficial final transcript in the mail for their records by July 1.

Graduation

As mentioned in our weekly memos over the last few weeks, graduation will be held on Saturday, August 1st, with a rain date of Sunday, August 2nd.  We have not yet determined the time or number of guests per graduate.  We will be working out the details in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Governor Baker and Commissioner Riley.  We will continue to communicate with families as we solidify the specific details related to graduation.

Prom

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the prom has been canceled because there is no way to have a prom at the time and ensure the safety of our students and staff.  The plan is to have a black-tie event in the fall of 2020 or the spring of 2021.  This will allow our students to still have this important milestone when social-distancing guidelines are lifted at some point in the future.

Yearbooks

The yearbook company was closed due to the pandemic and has just recently reopened.  Due to the closure, yearbooks will be delayed.  We will be in touch when yearbooks are ready for pick up.

Class Dues

Class dues still need to be paid! (Total: $200)  The dues go toward the cost of the caps and gowns, senior T-shirts, and yearbooks.  If you have not paid your dues please mail a check to the school with Attn: Ms. Dawes on the envelope.  The check should be made out to Essex North Shore Class of 2020.  Please include your name and “Class Dues” on the memo line.  If you have any questions about whether or not you paid, email [email protected] or [email protected].

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and adaptability as we work to make the last week special for our Class of 2020.
