Phase 3 Reopening

We presented our Phase 3 Reopening Plan to our School Committee on Wednesday, April 7th.  This plan will allow for 100% of our students to return to campus.  The Committee approved the plan and, therefore, we begin our Phase 3 Reopening on Wednesday, April 28th.  We are excited to finally have all of our students back in person.  Full details of the plan can be found here: Phase 3 Reopening Plan.

Tuesday, April 27th

In order to prepare for the return of all students on April 28thTuesday, April 27th will be an asynchronous remote learning day for grade 9 and 11 academic classes.  This will allow time for academic teachers to make final preparations before the 28th.  This means that all grade 9 and 11 students will be remote on April 28th.  Grade 10 and 12 will be on campus for in-person CTE classes.

PTO Raffle

Our amazing PTO is conducting a raffle for Backyard Makeover.  Tickets are on sale until April 30th.  Please click here for full details and to purchase tickets:  Backyard Makeover Raffle

Late Start on Wednesday

Wednesday, April 14th will be a two-hour late start, so that we can offer to staff extended professional development. Bus pick-up times are listed in the “Late-Start Time” column on Bus Routes that are posted on the Transportation page of the school website.  Student drivers and those students who are dropped off should arrive no earlier than 10:00 am.  Seniors who have first lunch can arrive after first lunch at 10:51 am.  The order of periods for the Late-Start day will be C, D, E.  A and B blocks do not meet that day.

Kindness Week

During the week of April 12th, we will be celebrating Kindness Week at Essex Tech.  Thanks to the planning by our very own Officer Chase and many staff members.  This week will include a variety of activities that allow our students and staff to let others know how much they are appreciated and to spread kindness and positivity throughout our learning community. These activities will include writing thank you cards, sending thank you videos, volunteering to read books about kindness to elementary school children, and many other intentional acts of kindness.

As part of Kindness Week, we are excited to announce the Essex North Shore Kindness Award.  If you would like to nominate someone from the Essex Tech community who exemplifies the traits of generosity, teamwork, compassion, selflessness, and kindness, please click on this link and scan the QR code.  Nominations can be submitted until Tuesday, April 13th.

Safety Reminders

Over the last few weeks, we have noticed that some students are not following the COVID safety protocols as carefully as they should.  As a reminder, all students must wear masks at all times when on campus (except at lunch or on mask breaks).  This means that masks must be on when students are walking to and from buses or cars.  Masks also must be worn properly; covering both the nose and mouth.  Students must also continue to maintain appropriate social distancing (6 feet whenever possible).  We will be referring students who will not comply with these guidelines to the Assistant Principals for disciplinary consequences.  This will be noted as a COVID violation which is as serious as an OSHA violation where the student may be asked to leave school for the day. We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe and in school learning!

4:00 pm Late Buses

We are very pleased to announce that we will begin running 4:00 pm late buses, beginning on Tuesday, April 6th.  The 4:00 late buses will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.  They do not run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please note that there are only nine 4:00 pm buses; therefore the route number and stops may be different from the route/stop for regular morning and afternoon runs.  In order to ride the 4:00 pm late bus, students must sign up in the morning by 9:15 am.  The digital sign-up form is available on the Families tab of the website.  Please scroll down to transportation and click the sign up for the 4:00 pm buses button. If students are unsure of their route or stop, they should go to the Main Office for assistance. The 5:45 pm late buses will continue to run daily for students participating in athletics. As a point of clarification: 4:00 pm buses will pick up students at the front of the building and 5:45 pm buses will pick up students at the back of the building by the gym.  The 4:00 pm late buses are available for students who are staying after school for extra help or for student activities.  Students are not permitted to remain after school unless they are with a teacher or advisor.

Senior Sign Pick-up

If you have not yet been able to pick up a lawn sign for your senior, you can stop by school Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Please see Mrs. Kelly at the Main Entrance. There are also a few extra signs that can be purchased for $10, first come first serve.
