Good Evening Caregivers & Students,
We have heard some rumors around the building this week about a Halloween party. While we appreciate that this might be fun for students, please assist us in keeping our students safe and healthy. Local schools around our community have had to move into full remote learning due to weekend parties attended by students. We do not think any of us want this to happen to our school community. Especially when you consider that we are doing everything we can to follow our COVID-19 precautions in school so that we can remain open. It is important that our students get as much real-time with their teachers and a large party could jeopardize this. Please help us stay open and avoid any large social gatherings!

New Information
Activities: Week of November 2, 2020
Please review the following document for information about activities for the: Week of November 2, 2020.
ALICE Drills
In collaboration with the Danvers Police Department, we conducted two ALICE Lockdown drills this week. Grade 10 and 11 students practiced the ALICE practice drill on Thursday and Grade 9 and 12 students practiced on Friday. As part of the drill, students practiced barricading doors in their classrooms or CTE areas. These drills help to prepare students and staff to react in the event of an intruder in the building and also allow us to troubleshoot and gain important information that will help us improve our school safety practices. We would like to thank the students and teachers for their cooperation during the drill and extend special thanks to the Danvers Police School Resource Officers who were here to assist.
Financial Aid Assistance
If you need to learn about financial aid. The Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) is hosting FREE college financing webinars four times per week next Monday, November 2nd through Thursday, November 5th with daytime and evening hours available. Webinars are presented by industry experts, both from within MEFA and from colleges and organizations across Massachusetts. Register for a webinar at mefa.org/events.
SAT Testing at Essex Tech
Essex North Shore is pleased to announce to our students and families that we have been approved by the College Board to be an SAT Test Center for the following College Board SAT examination dates: Saturday, December 5, 2020 and Saturday, March 13, 2021. Access for students to register to test at Essex Tech is now available on the College Board SAT site. Please Note: Registration for these sessions is NOT restricted to Essex Tech students and Essex Tech students do NOT get priority registration. These sessions are open to the public. Registration is first come first serve, and any student from any high school can register to test on our campus. In addition, capacity for both test sessions is limited due to current social distancing guidelines set forth by both the College Board and the Massachusetts Department of Secondary and Elementary Education. We encourage our students who plan to test on either or both of these dates to access their College Board account as soon as possible in order to register to ensure access to a seat at our location.

Out-of-Season Practice Schedule
Please see the following schedule if your child is interested in Out-of-Season Practices for Volleyball, Cheerleading, and Football.
Prior Updates
Student Pick Up
All caregivers who are picking up students at the end of the day should pick up in the gymnasium parking lot behind the gym. Over the last several weeks, we have noticed that students are being picked up on side streets, at Angel at Essex, and on South Campus. There are so many moving parts at dismissal, it is not safe to have students picked up at other locations. This also interferes with business at Smith Hall and Angel at Essex. As a suggestion, if you are trying to avoid the dismissal traffic, arrive on campus at 2:45 pm or later, when all buses and student drivers will be off-campus, and you will be able to pull up to the Main Entrance and pick up your child. Students are more than welcome to wait a few extra minutes for you.
The Larkin Gala
Our Annual Larkin Gala to support the Larkin Cottage Building project will be held virtually on December 4th! Find information here about Catherine Larkin. The event will feature Keynote Speaker, Senator Joan Lovely. We are in need of silent auction items. Please contact Bonnie Carr at [email protected] if you would like to donate to the auction.

Heidi T. Riccio, Ed.D., Superintendent-Director

Picture of the week: Halloween Time on Campus
At Smith Hall, we have a program for the children of our teachers. Today, they were able to celebrate Halloween and get some sense of normalcy. It was fun to see them with big smiles!
Weekend Integration Project!
Through a grant funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, four grade-level teams of students have been working with teachers using the Design Process to create a vehicle. The competition is on campus tomorrow morning. Here is one of our grade 10 Collision Repair students prepping the pumpkin for her team.
