Message from ENSATS 2/17/2023

Good Afternoon, Families!

We have made it to February vacation! We hope you all enjoy a relaxing break.

Upcoming Schedule

Here is a preview of the schedule for the week after the break:

Monday, February 27, 2023 Day 9: Green
Tuesday, February 28, 2023 Day 10: Green
Wednesday, March 1, 2023 Day 1: Blue    8:45 am  Late Start
Thursday, March 2, 2023 Day 2: Blue
Friday, March 3, 2023 Day 3: Blue

Parking on Side Streets

We were informed last week that the Town of Danvers is going to pursue making the neighborhoods that surround Essex Tech resident parking only. This will impact the ability of students to park on the streets in the neighborhoods near the school. We have made several additional parking spaces available on campus. Juniors and Seniors who do not have parking permits are encouraged to visit the Assistant Principals Office to complete a parking permit application and purchase a permit. We have a limited number of spots, and they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

New Website

We are pleased to share that we plan on launching our new website over the February break. We embarked on this website redesign project back in May 2022 with a local Beverly-based, certified women-owned business, Communications, Ink. In addition to giving the current website a more modern design, we also aim to build a site that represents our diverse student population, is easier to navigate, is more mobile-friendly, and brings more information to families and community members hoping to learn more about Essex Tech.

Chromebook Reminders
As previously mentioned, after February break students will not be able to access the “Public” WiFi network on personal devices such as MacBooks, iPads, and Windows Laptops. All students are required to have a Chromebook enrolled in the school’s management system, which grants them access to the student WiFi network. As a reminder, if families are unable to purchase a Chromebook on their own, they may borrow one through the school for a one-time technology fee.

Parking at the Addario Essex Sports Center

There have been some difficulties related to parking at the rink. There are simply not enough spots to accommodate all users, which has led to cars being parked illegally along the road, in the Sheriff’s Department lot, and in our new bus lot. As a result, the Town of Middleton will be enforcing parking restrictions on Route 62, Manning Ave, and surrounding areas. Any car that is not legally parked in a spot will be towed. Parking is not available in the bus lot on Manning Ave, and anyone parking in that lot will also be towed. Parking for Essex Tech games will be available in the Sports Center parking lot and in our F lot.

Sophomore-Junior Career and College Planning Session

The School Counseling Department will be hosting our Sophomore & Junior Caregiver Career and College Planning Session on Wednesday, March 1st at 6:00 pm in person in the Media Center and also by Zoom.  For those planning to attend via Zoom, please pre-register to receive the link. Pre-registration can be done HERE. Agenda items include information to support families with planning for their student’s career and college next steps.

MCAS Schedules

MCAS English Language Arts test administration for grade 10 students will begin next month. On MCAS days, grade 9 and 10 students arrive at 7:45 am, and the grade 11 and 12 students will have a later arrival. Most importantly, when MCAS falls on a Wednesday, we will begin school at 7:45 am rather than 8:45 am for grade 9 and 10. These Wednesdays are as follows: March 29th, May 17th, and June 7th. We will provide more details about the spring MCAS testing schedule next month.

Celtics Tickets

The PTO has purchased group tickets to offer a fun night out for students and families!  This is NOT a fundraising effort. The sale price is the price the PTO paid! This game is on April 5th at 7:30 pm. If you are interested in purchasing tickets, please click here.
