Message from ENSATS 1/13/2023

Good Afternoon, Families,

It is an exciting time at Essex Tech as we work to place our youngest Hawks into their Career Technical and Agricultural programs. We want to thank all of the staff who have worked many extra hours to make this happen. Grade 9 students will begin in their CTAE placements on Wednesday, January 18th.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

As we honor MLK on Monday, we ask that you seek to serve as he did. We are also excited to report that Mara Stein, a senior in our Carpentry program will be performing in Boston on Monday in celebration of Martin Luther King’s work and how he lived his life. More information below.

Kenneth Griffith, Jacob Hiser, Mara Stein and Jean-Caleb Belizaire of Boston Children’s Chorus joined us for an in-studio performance ahead of their “Becoming King: 20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Concert” at Boston Symphony Orchestra. Griffith is a conductor and Associate Director of Choirs for the Boston Children’s Chorus. Hiser is the collaborative pianist for the Boston Children’s Chorus. Stein and Belizaire are members of the Boston Children’s Chorus. For tickets to Monday’s “Becoming King: 20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Concert” at Boston Symphony Orchestra, go to BostonChildrensChorus.org.

Mara was also interviewed yesterday with WGBH. You can find that interview here.

Bathrooms Update

At this time, we plan to temporarily close the bathrooms in lower A, upper A,  lower E, and upper E. These are the bathrooms where we have had some vandalism and vape concerns. There will be nine bathrooms still open and available to students, with multiple bathrooms on each level of the building. Our primary focus is to keep students safe and to prevent the destruction of property. Vaping is a societal concern, and we need your help from the safety and health aspect of our future.
