Project Adventure Student Support Groups at Essex Tech

Dear ENSATS Community,

The School Counseling Department at Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School is pleased to announce our partnership with Project Adventure to bring  Adventure-Based Counseling (ABC) opportunities to our Essex Tech students.

Adventure-based Counseling MethodologyAdventure-based Counseling (ABC) is a counseling model, grounded in the belief that people learn and grow best in the environments with which they regularly interact. In ABC small group activities, skills are learned and practiced in small group activities, which can be generalized and applied in the school environment, employment settings, and community. Students will develop prosocial behaviors to make stronger connections with peers and adults, better manage stress and anxiety, and add tools to their skill set to enhance their own mental health and wellness.

Engagement does not require students to do every activity. Rather, students are encouraged to embrace Challenge By Choice. But, students are expected to engage with the discussions, pay attention, and join activities as they are able.

Project Adventure is offering two 9 week after school sessions on either Mondays or Thursdays during March through May from 2:45-3:45 pm.

Monday Sessions: March 7, 14, 21, 28      April 4, 11, 25      May 2, 9

Thursday Sessions: March 10, 17, 24, 31   April 7, 14, 28  May 5, 12

Regular attendance in all sessions is expected. Refreshments will be provided. Participating students can access Essex Tech’s 4:15pm late buses for transportation home from these sessions. Enrollment in this program is FREE.
