Spring MCAS Information

Spring MCAS Information

Notice: Wednesday, January 26, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2024:

As you know, Massachusetts high school students are required to pass MCAS tests in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science and technology/engineering in order to graduate from high school. We hope this letter will help clarify the graduation requirement for your student.

Members of the class of 2024 will fulfill the MCAS part of their graduation requirements in ELA, mathematics, and science by taking the computer-based version of the Next-Generation MCAS tests in those subjects this spring 2022. The tests will be similar in design to the tests that they took as seventh graders in spring 2019 if they were in a Massachusetts public school.

Grade 10 MCAS testing will occur on the following dates:

  • ELA Next Generation MCAS: March 22, 2022 & March 23, 2022
  • Mathematics Next Generation MCAS: May 17, 2022 & May 18, 2022
  • Biology MCAS:  June 7, 2022 & June 8, 2022

The grade 10 Next-Generation MCAS tests will have different achievement levels and scores than the previous versions of the grade 10 tests, but for the class of 2024, students will be required to reach the score corresponding to 240 (or 220 plus the fulfillment of an Educational Proficiency Plan) on the ELA, mathematics and science tests in order to qualify for a high school diploma. In other words, the passing standard will not change for your student’s class as the state introduces the new assessments in those subjects.

To help students prepare for testing, we will provide tutoring to all students on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, beginning on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.  We strongly encourage all students to attend tutoring sessions.  Students can sign up for the 4:15 late bus for transportation home.  Please sign your student up for tutoring through this form by Friday, January 28, 2022.   Tutor Sign Up Form
