Information from the Health Office

In order to maintain our home-school collaboration regarding sick or quarantined students.  Caregivers are reminded to keep your child home if the child is:

  • experiencing symptoms of illness including any COVID-like symptoms (see below), or
  • is identified as a “close contact” of a confirmed positive COVID person in their household or personal life.

When a child remains home for either of these reasons caregivers should contact the Essex Tech School Nurses at nurse@essextech.net or (978) 304-4700 x 3119 right away to ensure school absence and return-to-school protocols are communicated directly. Students dismissed from Essex Tech or remaining home due to illness, close contact quarantines, or a positive COVID test cannot return to our school and campus without prior collaboration with our school nurses.

Virtual Parent Night – Save the Date

We are planning to have a Virtual Parent Night on Thursday, October 29th at 6:00 pm.  This will give caregivers the opportunity to meet their child’s teachers and learn about class expectations. We will provide more details regarding the schedule, timing, and meeting links as we get closer to the event.

Virtual Open House

Our 2020 Open House will be held virtually.  The link to Open House will be available online on Saturday, November 21, 2020.

ALICE Training

During Career Enrichment and Health classes next week, our School Resource Officer Michael Chase will be talking with students about ALICE procedures. ALICE is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.  The ALICE Training Program provides lessons and information for all facets of response if a violent intruder is gaining access to a building.  Our staff has already been trained, and we will conduct a school-wide drill on Thursday, October 29th and Friday, October 30th.

Conditioning Approval

At the October 16, 2020 School Committee meeting it was determined that three athletic programs are able to condition while we wait for the floating sports season in February. The cheerleading, football, and volleyball programs are able to condition using the COVID-19 reopening plan presented to the Athletic Director, Administration, and School Committee. Coaches will be sending further information out to athletes.

Photo Distribution & Retakes

Pictures have arrived from LifeTouch and will be distributed throughout the next week in first-period classes. All students who were photographed will receive a proof from Lifetouch for your review. If you ordered photos through Lifetouch to be delivered here and you do not receive your photographs from your child’s teacher by October 28th, please contact our representative for LifeTouch Terry Bleiler at (781) 789-0778. If you decide you would like to order prints your proof will provide additional support to do so with your child’s access code. Retake pictures sessions will be conducted the week of December 14, 2020.  Students will need to sign up using this registration form link by December 10, 2020.
